About
We are a group of parents in Vancouver, Canada.
This site was created by a group of parents in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We saw how AI was being deployed in schools across the United States and its encroachment into schools in Canada.
We are open to anyone joining the movement to protect education in schools. Whether you're a caregiver, teacher, citizen, student. We all benefit when schools promote original thought, and we all suffer when students are taught they must rely on a tool in order to think.
About PACES
The first chapter of Parents for AI Caution in Educational Spaces (PACES) was founded in New York City by Kelly Clancy, an educator and parent. PACES NYC have had many successes, including a majority of city council members are supporting a pause on AI in schools. We hope that by sharing knowledge and solidarity that we can help defend our children's rights to an education free from hype.
We as the Vancouver chapter have been interviewed in segments on CBC News Early Edition and CTV News Vancouver. Our members have also been published in the Vancouver Sun.
We started a petition asking the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care for a two-year pause on AI in BC schools that has so far gained over 1,700 signatures.
